Bill Gates’ daughter Phoebe on how she taught her 'shy' father to socialise: ‘I was like, No, if we're…’

Bill Gates’ daughter, Phoebe Gates, has made a revelation regarding his father’s social skills. She said that the renowned co-founder and former head of Microsoft helped her father become more comfortable in social situations. Gates has described himself as a shy and socially awkward person in his memoirs.
The 22-year-old Phoebe, who grew up in the global spotlight as the daughter of one of the world's wealthiest individuals, shared insights into her father's personality during an episode of the "Call Her Daddy" podcast (via Business Insider).
While acknowledging Bill Gates’ immense impact on the technology industry, she told the host that her father isn't naturally inclined to be a “people person.”

Recalling father-daughter dances, Phoebe shared instances where she would "force my dad to go talk to all the other dads and daughters, and he would get nervous and leave."
Phoebe, who is an outgoing personality, decided to proactively address this, recounting how she would encourage her father to step outside his comfort zone, sometimes against his initial wishes.
However, her efforts to socialise the tech titan were persistent.
“I was like, 'No, if we're here, we're going to socialize. We gotta work this room, Bill,'” she explained.
While Bill Gates may have felt uneasy at the time, Phoebe mentioned that her family often jokes that life “would be so boring” if she hadn't been born.
Despite his shyness in social settings, Bill Gates is also known for his outspoken nature within the tech community and his significant philanthropic endeavours. Phoebe also noted that she shares a competitive spirit with her father, which makes family game nights quite intense.
She also humorously described how her father's competitive nature extends to when she brings boyfriends home to meet her parents, making the experience “really nerve-wracking.”
