Khapreswar temple will be built at place selected by committee of shrine: Sawant

Panaji: Chief ministerPramod Sawant on Wednesday promised to build the Dev Khapreswar Temple within the boundaries of the devasthan. He also assured the temple committee of building a new one at the place decided by them.
“Our sentiments towards Dev Khapreshwar are the same as of the local people. We will build the temple in the location that they tell us,” said Sawant.
He was speaking after meeting tourism minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte.
“I have requested the chief minister not to act on the complaint filed by the PWD against activists and others who were obstructing the work, as they were misguided and unaware of the consent given by the Khapreshwar Temple Committee,” said Khaunte. Earlier in the day, a delegation of Dev Khapreswar members met with Sucorro panchayat members and Khaunte.
Khaunte requested the CM to de-escalate the tension by not pursuing legal and punitive action against the activists who protested during relocation of the banyan tree.
