The farewell turned into a festive procession, with villagers pouring out onto the streets to honour the officer for his service and dedication. People from all walks of life — shopkeepers, farmers, students, women, and local community leaders — joined the celebration, many of them emotionally overwhelmed by the departure of the officer who, in a short span, made a deep and lasting impact on the area.
Videos from the farewell, which quickly went viral on social media, captured the jubilant scenes. Locals took out a procession complete with drums, trumpets, and decorated horses, as a mark of respect.
Some participants were seen wearing traditional safa (turbans), one of which was later ceremoniously placed on Singh’s head. In another clip, residents can be seen garlanding the officer and cheering as he was led through the village like a local hero.
The heartfelt tribute stood out for its scale and sincerity — something rarely seen in farewell events for govt officials, let alone police personnel. Many residents were seen tearing up, with some emotionally recounting how Singh changed the atmosphere in the area.
Singh became popular among locals for his bold policing methods and compassionate community outreach.
Just days before his transfer, he conducted a high-impact parade of history-sheeters at the police station, a move that sent a strong message to criminal elements and earned praise from the public. That video, too, went viral and further cemented his image as a no-nonsense yet community-driven officer.
Apart from his law enforcement work, Singh was also known for his humanitarian efforts. Police officials said he personally intervened to help several families in need.
In one case, when a young woman’s father — her sole guardian — suffered kidney failure, Singh helped organise her wedding with support from local residents. His involvement went far beyond the call of duty, and many such gestures were remembered fondly by those attending his farewell.
As he moves to his new posting, Singh leaves behind not just a legacy of firm policing, but also the affection and gratitude of an entire community — a rare honour for any public servant.
Superintendent of olice, pDeoria, Vikrant Vir, said that a show cause notice has been issued to the police personnel. However, he was a good officer who spearheaded many operations and helped in controlling the crime in his jurisdiction.
“The cop Vinod Kumar Singh ran operation talash wherein all those who made reels on bikes and carried out stunts in the area were caught and warned by the cop,” said Vir.
