After speaking to Pakistan army chief, US secretary of state Rubio dials EAM Jaishankar

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has urged India and Pakistan to de-escalate tensions and re-establish direct communication channels to prevent miscalculations. Following conversations with General Asim Munir and Ishaq Dar, Rubio offered US support to facilitate productive discussions aimed at averting future disputes.

NEW DELHI: US secretary of state Marco Rubio on Saturday spoke with external affairs minister S Jaishankar and emphasized on the need for India and Pakistan to de-escalate and avoid "miscalculation," according to the United States Department of State."Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Secretary Rubio emphasized that both sides need to identify methods to de-escalate and re-establish direct communication to avoid miscalculation," a State Department press release quoted spokesperson Tammy Bruce as saying."He further proposed US support in facilitating productive discussions to avert future disputes," it added.In a post on X, Jaishankar said, "Had a conversation with US @SecRubio this morning.. India’s approach has always been measured and responsible and remains so."
