They needed specific boundary shots to surpass Bangladesh's net run rate during their chase, but failed to achieve the required combination.

West Indies women's cricket team failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup later this year despite posting a win against Thailand.
Pakistan's victory over Bangladesh on Saturday kept the door open for West Indies in qualifying for the 2025 Women's World Cup later in the year in India. But those hopes were dashed in heartbreaking manner even though Windies past the finish line, against Thailand, with 235 balls to spare and six wickets in the bag.
In the World Cup Qualifiers, West Indies finished third with three wins and two losses. Same as second placed Bangladesh, who took the spot in the marquee tournament. But the two teams were separated by their net run rates. Bangladesh accumulated a net run rate of 0.639 while that of the West Indies was 0.626 - a gap of only 0.013!

2013 World Cup runners-up had multiple chances to overhaul Bangladesh in their quest to chase down the 167 run total.
The first benchmark was getting to the total in 10.1 overs. The next was to reach 172 runs in 11 overs. For that, though, West Indies needed to hit a four and a six when they were on 162/4 after 10.4 overs.

Instead, Stafanie Taylor thumped a six as West Indies won but lost out in the bigger scheme of things - qualifying for the World Cup.

It will be the first time that West Indies will miss the quadrennial event since 2000. They had played all five editions (2005, 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2022) since.
