Rockstar Games officially made the first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer announcement 500 days ago, a milestone moment for the gaming world. The much-awaited reveal, which finally landed in December 2023, lit up the internet. But since then, there has been total silence from Rockstar about a second trailer or any significant updates. With Fall 2025 on the horizon, fans are starting to ask themselves: Is the game ready, or is a delay imminent?

500 days have passed and yet no trailer 2. What does that tell us?

When Rockstar's president, Sam Houser, initially confirmed the trailer of GTA 6 in November 2023, it was a novelty for the company to interact with its fan base prior to an official announcement. The initial trailer, dropped on December 5, 2023, generated millions of views in a matter of hours, cementing itself as the decade's most anticipated game. Nevertheless, since that time, no official announcement about a second trailer has been made, and the fans have had to speculate over the development progress of the game.

Rockstar has traditionally followed a strategic marketing pattern with its major titles, usually releasing several big trailers leading up to launch. GTA 5, for example, had three big trailers, with a regular space between each. Since GTA 6 is scheduled for Fall 2025, it would be reasonable to assume that a second trailer should have been out by now. But 500 days on, Rockstar has said nothing. This has led to speculation, is the game on schedule, or is a delay in prospect?

Why Rockstar may be withholding information

There are a few reasons why Rockstar may not have released a second trailer yet. Firstly, the company is famous for maintaining tight reins on its marketing, so that each new reveal is as effective as possible. With GTA 6 more than a year off, Rockstar may be waiting for the ideal time to create buzz again.
Alternatively, Rockstar is likely working to tie up essential areas of the game, i.e., to buff mechanics and ensure the colossal open world runs seamlessly on next-gen consoles. The magnitude of Vice City's revival is possibly the reason Rockstar doesn't want to be involved in rushed game releases characteristic of the gaming industry.
While waiting in anticipation for more details, Rockstar's silence raises further questions. Having Fall 2025 as a release window target, the second trailer must be imminent, but when? Until Rockstar utters a word, the anticipation is on and rumors will get only stronger.
