Apple is set to distribute a $95 million settlement fund as part of a class-action lawsuit that alleged its Siri digital assistant activated and recorded sensitive, private conversations without users' consent or knowledge, a report has said. The tech giant agreed to settle the case back in January. According to a report in The Verge, individuals who owned eligible Apple devices over a specific period and believe they were affected by this alleged issue can submit claims to receive a portion – up to $100 – of the settlement money.

Apple $95 million settlement: Who can submit claims

To qualify for a claim, users who have purchased one of the following Apple devices between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024: an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, MacBook, iMac, HomePod, iPod touch, or Apple TV.
Furthermore, users must genuinely believe that Siri activated on that device during a private conversation without your express consent.Fortune says that Apple is notifying individuals known to be eligible for the settlement by sending them emails or postcards containing information on how to file a claim, along with unique codes to simplify the process. However, if you do not receive a direct notification but believe you qualify, you can initiate a claim by visiting the official settlement webpage that has been specially set up for the purpose.The deadline for submitting a claim is July 2, 2025.While the $95 million settlement represents a substantial amount, the pool of eligible claimants is expected to be large given the vast number of Apple devices sold over the decade-long period. Consequently, most successful claimants are anticipated to receive an estimated payout of approximately $20 per device.
