Apoorva Mukhija opens up on how her 'India's Got Latent' controversy affected her parents: ‘Samaj mein izzat rehni chahiye’

Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, found herself in the spotlight earlier this year due to the India’s Got Latent controversy. Now, months later, she has spoken out about the tough time she faced.
In a recent teaser for her upcoming interview with We Are Yuvaa, Apoorva got emotional while talking about the incident and shared how deeply it affected her and her parents.
She said, “I always wanted to have a media video or paps screaming, ‘Apoorva ji kuch boliye’. I will show it to my kids and be like, ‘Tumhari mummy bhi gundi thi apne time pe’," Later in the promo, Apoorva also stated, “My dad always said ‘Samaj mein izzat rehni chahiye’. I just felt like, he lost all of that in a second and I put them through all of that. There is light at the end of the tunnel, you just have to fight for it."
Why Apoorva Mukhija was in the spotlight
For those unaware, Apoorva Mukhija got into legal trouble earlier this year due to comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia (also known as BeerBiceps) on the show India’s Got Latent. During an episode, he allegedly asked a contestant an inappropriate question involving body parts and even made a shocking proposal involving Rs 2 crore. The controversy worsened when he posed a highly offensive question:
“Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join once to stop it forever?”
Filed Complaints
After the incident, multiple complaints were filed against Apoorva and other panel members. Apoorva, who has over 3 million followers on Instagram, even went on to delete all her posts from the platform.
Mental struggles after controversy
The Rebel Kid, Apoorva Mukhija, recently returned to Instagram and revealed that she suffered from sleep paralysis due to the stress and threats she received after the controversy.
