Bollywood Embraces Sustainable Indie Style
Sonam Kapoor, now living in London with her husband Anand Ahuja and their three-year-old son Vayu Kapoor Ahuja, recently opened up about a personal regret. The actress, who gained fame with her debut film Saawariya alongside Ranbir Kapoor and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, revealed for the first time in her nearly 20-year career that she regrets not finishing her education. She also shared that she’s currently saving money for her son's future education.
Envy Over Husband Anand Ahuja’s College Experience
In a recent interview with Vogue, the actress admitted she feels guilty about not pursuing higher education. She shared that she never went to college, while her husband Anand Ahuja studied at Wharton, University of Pennsylvania. Sonam said she sometimes feels envious of him for having that experience.

Sonam’s Wish for Vayu’s Education and Love for Reading
Sonam also shared that she’s been saving for her son Vayu’s education, hoping to give him the best opportunities. She expressed her desire for him to become a reader, saying that reading helps build compassion. Recalling a visit to her husband Anand Ahuja’s alma mater, Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania, she admitted it was the first time she truly felt envy.
In the same interview, Sonam revealed a quirky detail about her son Vayu — he has picked up her habit of checking the Air Quality Index (AQI) before going outside. She shared that if the AQI is poor, Vayu prefers to stay indoors, just like her.

Motherhood Brings Back Wonder and Idealism for Sonam
She also opened up about how motherhood reignited a sense of wonder in her life. She admitted to feeling jaded in the industry before Vayu was born, but having him has brought back a sense of idealism. Sonam expressed her desire to understand her son’s thoughts and experiences, saying, “I want to walk in his shoes—you don’t know what a two-year-old is thinking—just so I can be a better parent.”
Sonam Kapoor was last seen in the 2023 film 'Blind'. She recently hinted at making a comeback to Bollywood.
