Prithviraj’s mother Mallika Sukumaran has revealed that
Mammootty personally reached out to her amid the ongoing L2: Empuraan controversy. Despite being on a break in Madras, the legendary actor assured his support, an act that deeply moved Mallika.
Speaking to Manorama News, Mallika shared that she received numerous calls from relatives and industry colleagues expressing their support. However, she noted that only two people from the film industry directly reached out to her—producer Saji Nandiyattu and Mammootty.
Mammootty’s reaction“To my surprise, I saw a message mentioning Mammootty’s Facebook post. He is currently resting and will return to films after three months. I had not even called him, yet on the eve of Perunnal, he sent me a message. He understands how it feels when people speak about Sukumaran Chettan’s children in such a manner. That is the kind of artist Mammootty is. I will never forget this,” she said.
Mallika further praised Mammootty’s kindness, emphasizing his stature in the industry. “I have often spoken about Mammootty’s ways. He was the only one from the film fraternity who sent me a message. He stands at such a high level. Look at where Prithviraj stands and where Mammootty stands. While resting in Madras, he messaged me, saying, ‘It’s okay, Chechi, let it all pass.’ When I saw that message, my eyes filled with tears.”
She also mentioned that many from the industry had reached out, including
Mohanlal, who spoke to Prithviraj. “On this festival day, I sincerely pray for all blessings to be upon Mammootty,” she said.
