Hyderabad: Hyderabad traffic police have counselled 875 minors who were caught driving vehicles this year. Along with them, their parents were also called and warned of booking criminal cases against them for allowing minors to drive their vehicles.
Traffic police said that most of the minors were found jumping signal, speeding, wrong route driving, using phone while driving, triple riding, not using helmet during their illegal driving. "It was informed to the vehicle owners that their vehicle's registration number will be suspended for a year if they allow minors to drive their vehicles. Apart from that, the owner will be booked in criminal case,'' Hyderabad traffic police said.
The counselling was conducted at Traffic Training Institute, Begumpet. In all, cases where minors were caught driving, the vehicles were seized by police. Subsequently, their parents were called for counselling, where they were explained about the ramifications and the danger posed to the minors.
In the past, there were several instances of minor drivers involved in accidents and the vehicle owners were booked in criminal cases.
