“We have faith in everybody in lineup”- Aaron Judge backs team despite Yankees’ loss against Rays

The New York Yankees faced a disappointing 7-5 defeat against the Tampa Bay Rays, marking their second consecutive series loss. Despite a late-game rally ignited by Aaron Judge, questionable coaching decisions hampered their comeback efforts. The Yankees, now 19-15, struggled offensively and lost four of their last six games, with Judge expressing faith in the team's ability to bounce back.

The New York Yankees were left in a rough spot on Sunday at the Yankee Stadium, as they played pretty poorly as they pitched, fielded, and hit. The team even lost 7-5 to the Tampa Bay Rays, which has now made it their second series loss in a row. Late in the game, they had started to make a comeback, but some coaching decisions were questioned. Overall, it a difficult day to play and a difficult spot to be in.

The confusion amidst the game that led to loss

Will Warren had another tough game and couldn’t finish five innings. The Yankees, now with a 19-15 record, tried to make a late comeback but couldn’t finish it. They’ve now lost four of their last six games. Yankees’ captain, Aaron Judge reacted to the whole situation and said:
“It’s tough, especially a day like today, a rubber match, a chance to win the series, We kind of fell short, especially on the offensive side not really getting things going.”
While the Tampa Bay Rays were winning 7-2 when Aaron Judge hit a double in the eighth inning, starting a comeback, the team only managed to load the bases with no outs and were down 7-3.
While manager Aaron Boone was left with no choice but to choose to let J.C. Escarra bat because he had more experience. However, the plan failed when Escarra also managed to hit into a double play, which ended the chance for a rally keeping the Yankees behind.

Aaron Boone takes stock of the situation

Team manager Aaron Boone reacted to the whole situation and said:
“I’m choosing between Escarra and Vivas there, I knew I had one shot with Rice there…So no, not at that point with no outs. I was going to use [Rice] for Vivas.”
Aaron Judge stepped up for the team and took the situation under his control, where he said:
“It’s tough, but this team, we battle with the best of them, We got faith in everybody in this lineup, up and down. We know what we’re capable of doing. That’s where we were able to rally in the last couple innings. We gave ourselves a chance in the ninth, but we just couldn’t get that one guy on to see if we could get some magic going.”
Meanwhile, Aaron Boone said:
“That’s what [the Rays] do, You look at the arms they run out against you, starting and relief, you got to be able to win some low-scoring games too. They held us down pretty well this series. Liked the way we battled today to work our way back in it with being really short today, but obviously a tough series where they were able to hold us down enough to get a couple.”
